THE CID
This rendition of Corneille’s Le Cid tells the timeless tale of forbidden love and familial duty, all adorned in majesty of a true Parisian stage. Akin to a Romeo and Juliet, Le Cid captures the heart-wrenching twists and turns of young love and ancient feuds.
The Cid is one of the greatest classics in French culture.
Chimène and Rodrigue are passionately in love. Sadly, like Romeo and Juliet, these star-crossed lovers’ families are feuding, thus thwarting their love. The audience is thrust into a violent and bloody plot: passion, vengeance, and treason bring us to the edge of our seats in this epic play. It is set in Castille where "love is mere pleasure, honour is a duty."
Through blood, tears, sacrifice, and courage, our young heroes will prove to us that love truly conquers all.
